my secret christmas wish.

i wish i could ask whether we could spend christmas together. sometimes i feel as though i really don't know what's going on in your mind. some days you seem all open and intimate, whereas other days you're just distant and impossible to read. a series of pulls back and forth - the scenario between us. i want to have you sitting right beside me, our arms touching and the tingling feeling i get in my stomach. your arm around me when i'm cold, hugs that put a smile on my face. there's only so much we can do and everything else is packed so tighly between. yet at other times, i want to have nothing to do with you, because somehow we always end up hurting each other. how ironic.

but i can't help it if the image of you surfaces in my mind, and your name hangs on my lips. no way of predicting how i'll feel when i actually see you. sometimes i wonder whether all of this is only what i've imagined. when you're a stranger, i try to convince myself that things are not as they seem, yet you always have to do something, like a hug, an unexpected text or that look as if we're on a secret nobody else knows, to turn it all around and mess up my rationality.

yet i don't ask, and you know why. if you were in my shoes, you wouldn't either.
