Missing - Evanescence.Repost.Photo by Jordan

it was suffocating, that night when i went so near to where you stayed. not intentional of course, i had no idea she stayed so near your place, literally around the corner. i knew that if i were to walk forward by about 300m and turn right, i'll find myself right in front of your block. and of course i didn't, why would i?

i still could not prevent the memories of us from flooding my mind at that precise moment. not when she stayed so near where we used to go, to have time we could call our own. as i laid on the bed, it was nearly impossible to go to sleep; i got up and walked to the window while she slept soundly. i stared out and it was as though for a moment, we were back to where we started.

i placed my hands on the railings and found that my hands were shaking. perhaps this will always b a trait of mine, being overwhelmed by emotions and memories. memories seem to have an unbreakable hold on me, maybe that's the only way it'll all make sense.

i wanted to run to your place and call your name so loudly till the entire neighbourhood could hear; wishful thinking that maybe by that, reality will cease to be what it really is.

the bus ride that took them there, she remembers him telling her,
"hey this is one of my favourite songs now. wanna listen?"
"yea sure, wanna see what your taste is like" she teased, as she reached for the other side of the eye piece.
as she took the eye piece from him, a slight shudder of happiness passed through her being.
anything to know more about him, that was enough to make her day.
and all these thoughts were at the foremost of her brain as she plugged in,
not noticing the song and its lyrics.

"it's damn nice, what do you think?"
at that point, her mind was elsewhere, all charged that he was actually sitting next to her.
"hmmm it's alright i guess" she answered reluctantly, failing to understand the significance of what was happening.
"but not really my type of music i think"
"oh i see. no lah, i just really like it i think. says alot."

she didn't know. until a few months down the road, when she chanced upon the song.
picking up the album, she hesitated for a fraction of a second before she purchased and headed home,
just to listen to that song.

as she was listening to it, she finally understood what he was trying to say.
the song encapsulated everything beautifully,
if only she had known earlier.
again and again, he had tried to insert bits of all its meaning in things he told her.
but she never knew.

if i had another chance, i'll dedicate the song right back at you.
